“If you can dream it, you can do it!” This quote from Walt Disney has defined and inspired Tim Harris throughout his entire life. Born in 1986 with a big heart and contagious enthusiasm, Tim grew up in Albuquerque, New Mexico and is a graduate of Eldorado High School where he was named Homecoming King and student of the year. After high school, Tim attended Eastern New Mexico University in Roswell, New Mexico and graduated in 2008 with certificates in Food Service, Office Skills, and Restaurant Hosting. After college Tim emerged with a dream. His dream was to one day open his own restaurant. In 2010 Tim’s dream became a reality. For five wonderful years Tim was the proud owner of Tim’s Place Restaurant in Albuquerque, New Mexico serving breakfast, lunch, and hugs.
One of Tim’s most important hugs was given to a clearly delighted President Barack Obama at the White House in 2014. In 2015, Tim introduced first lady Michelle Obama at the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics World Games in the Los Angeles Coliseum in front of 60,000 people and a world-wide television audience. Then, Tim decided to do something even more amazing. Tim started traveling the world to spread his message love and inspiration to all! Tim works to break down barriers, get rid of any stereotypes, and inspire the whole world to follow his example and achieve their dreams!
As a motivational and inspirational speaker, Tim has traveled the globe to spread his message of love and hope for our world. In these difficult times for our planet, Tim’s message is more vitally important than ever.
Tim and his family have been supporters and advocates for the Global Down Syndrome Foundation since its inception. In 2013, Tim was honored with the Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award. In 2019, Tim had the honor and pleasure of watching his girlfriend, Megan Bomgaars, receive the same award.
