1. Why did you join the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show Committee?
“I have always had a soft spot in my heart for children and adults with developmental disabilities. The challenges that they face are numerous and sometimes very subtle. But when I look at these darling people I see purity and love and people who bring so much joy into the lives of those surrounding them. Also, after I met Michelle Sie Whitten and her parents a few years ago, I couldn’t help but being affected by their passion and dedication for this cause.”
2. What does supporting the Global Down Syndrome Foundation mean to you?
“I can see immediately what the programs do to help the people with Down syndrome and their families. The Dare to Play Football and Dare to Cheer camps with the Broncos and of course the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show are just a few events that the Global Down Syndrome Foundation organizes. When I see the joy on the faces of these individuals AND the tears in the eyes of the families who realize that their child can do anything any other child can, I can’t help but want to be an active supporter.”
3. Why should people support the Global Down Syndrome Foundation?
“It is my hope by bringing awareness to our community about Down syndrome, many hearts will be affected as mine has been. In addition to that sentiment, the Global Down Syndrome Foundation is providing funding for research into the link between Down syndrome and Alzheimer’s. Many of us might not be affected by Down syndrome but many of us will be affected by Alzheimer’s in one way or another. This research is critical to our society today.”
4. Please share a sentence or two about your life, including what is important to you and anything else you would like to share with others
“My husband and I have been blessed with two wonderful daughters and four precious grandchildren. Family is the center of our lives. We are humbled and grateful to be given this blessing. Giving back to our community is a responsibility that we hold dear and we take it seriously … and I couldn’t think of a better organization like the Global Down Syndrome Foundation to give my time and efforts.”
