Kellyn Acosta believes that fashion is the connector of people and style is insight into an individual’s point of view. Fashion and sports have always gone hand in hand for him as a professional athlete. Both require a person to take chances and although the payoff can be unpredictable it gives people something to talk about. Kellyn’s love of fashion and his career as a professional soccer player in Colorado and for the United States Men’s National Team have created incredible personal experiences and connections internationally for him. In 2019, Kellyn had his first opportunity to walk the runway in the Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show. It was a turning point for him to see the greater good of fashion. When you are able to express yourself through your personal style you gain confidence, you feel good, and you will achieve more.
Kellyn is Japanese, Hispanic and African American, and it is his unique heritage that has helped create his love of fashion and style. Kellyn signed his first professional soccer contract at age 16 in 2011, since then he has made 40 caps for the US Men’s National Team, 2x Gold Cup winner, Nation’s League Winner and 3 Youth World Cup appearances. Off the field, Kellyn is a father to a three-year old son, a dog dad to a one-year old Golden Doodle, and a community advocate for Global Down Syndrome Foundation and the Special Olympics.
