Karlynn Trujillo is the current Miss Colorado Volunteer 2023 and last year, she was Miss Colorado Teen Volunteer 2022. Her platform is Autoimmune Disease Awareness. She is so thankful to have a platform that allows her to give back, while speaking on matters most important to her.
A Christian college student, in her junior year attending Grand Canyon University, obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Advertising. She is a part of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and has consistently been on the GCU Deans List and President’s List since attending. Additionally, she graduated from Erie High School in three years, graduating her junior year with a 4.1 cumulative GPA.
During Karlynn’s Tenure of Service as a National Titleholder, she plans to continue impacting her community by participating in fundraising and volunteering locally with youth. Her involvement with her S.E.R.V.E. initiative, Autoimmune Disease Awareness, has been demonstrated through her mission of HEALTH: Heart, Empowerment, Advocacy, Learning, Thinking, Healing. Karlynn is committed to bringing awareness and increasing awareness of the impact differing autoimmune diseases have on individuals’ lives. Karlynn was inspired to first become involved with her S.E.R.V.E. initiative nationally due to the research, education, and the significant need for a greater of autoimmune diseases, especially within women. Women are 2-3 times more likely to develop an autoimmune disease than men, making up 80% of all cases in the U.S. Autoimmune diseases are complex, often misunderstood, and misdiagnosed. There needs to be more funding, new treatment options, and better disease management for autoimmune disease.
It has been an honor and a privilege for Karlynn to share in the lives of so many and she is grateful for the opportunity to serve Colorado and to be a part of the Miss Volunteer America Program since the inaugural year and for many, many years to come.
