Hi, Micah Quinones here! I’m currently eight years old, and just started my second-grade year! My nickname is “chi” which is a short version of the word that describes me best – cheeky! My parents know fully just how much I love attention, and I will do just about anything to get it!
Speaking of… You might recognize me from the recent VRBO commercial that I starred in with my dad! Or, by being the first person with Down syndrome to be on the cover of Vogue? Is it too much to tell you I’ve also been in ads for Ulta Beauty, Old Navy, Lululemon, Tommy Hilfiger and even internationally for River Island? I also am on the cover of Parents Magazine, Milk, and Down Syndrome World magazine. I don’t mean to brag, but I am a Leo after all, and I just love the spotlight!
I’ve had a modeling contract since I was eleven months old. This wasn’t a common thing back then, so the story of me being a working model went “viral” and then things really took off! You can see articles about me taking the modeling industry by storm on BuzzFeed, Yahoo Parents, and Huffington Post! Now I take to social media to continue representing the Down syndrome community in all sorts of ways…
I’ve even been able to shoot campaigns for brands like Anthropologie, and they love how we are changing the world so much, that now they raise money for our favorite organization, the Global Down Syndrome Foundation! Not only am I able to bring awareness to how beautiful people with Down syndrome are, and how worthy we are to be represented by the media, but I’m also making them aware of ways to be involved!
There’s no better way I can think to impact the world than to remind everyone that each and every one of us has something special to offer. I just so happen to be doing it one pose at a time!
